Life style

My working day begins at 7 o’clock when my alarm clock rings and I get up. I don’t do morning exercises. Instead I take my dog out for a walk, and it is a good exercise for me. When we return home, my dog has his morning meal and I take a shower. By that time my mother has cooked breakfast and I eat it. Then I wash up and dress for school. It doesn’t take me long to get to school , since it’s around the corner. School classes begin at 8.30 and are over at 2 or 3. I sometimes stay at school after classes. Twice a week I train in the gym and on Wednesday we have an optional class in Russian literature, which I never miss. On other days I go straight home. On the way home I call at the baker’s and buy some bread. Sometimes I go shopping after school if my mother asks me to buy some food. When I come home, I have dinner and listen to some music. Then I call some of my classmates, and by 5 o’clock I am ready to do my next day/s homework. It may take me from 2 to 4 hours to prepare for th

e next day’s classes. I usually spend more time on History, Social Science and Literature because I have to read a lot of additional materials besides school textbooks. All my weekdays are nearly the same, there’s no time left for entertainment or meeting with my friends.

Leisure time.

I go to school six days a week, so I have only one day off, Sunday. On Sunday I get up later than on weekdays. In winter I go skiing after breakfast . I ski in the park which is near my house. I come back home for dinner. After dinner I have a short rest and I do some of the homework for the next week. In the evening I sometimes go to see my friends. We like to listen to music together or see a video film. In spring and summer I prefer to spend my day off in the open air. On Saturday night I usually go to the country house where my parents live. There is a river not far from the house. The water in it is cold and clear and I like to swim in it. I sometimes go fishing and catch small fish. There ate woods on both banks of the river where I like to walk if the weather is fine or look for berries and mushrooms. I like together wild strawberries. When the day is rainy I stay indoors reading and watching TV. Early in the morning my schoolmates and I go hiking. We leave on Saturday afternoon and return on Sunday evening. We learn how to make a fire and cook food , how to find fresh water in the woods. At night we sit by the fire, talk, recite poems, sing and dance. We spend the night in the tents and the next morning walk on. When we return home we so tired that I usually go to bed without supper. I try to read a book, but I go to sleep before I have read half a page.

Dialogue for 4 module

Interviewer: Welcome to this week's edition of Generation Choice. Today we have the writer, Monica Allen, and her daughter, Fiona. Right, let's begin with music. Who are your heroes in the world of music?
Fiona: Shall I start? Well, you know, I really like Dido, her songs, the way she looks, everything. I think she's a really great singer.
Monica: I don't think so. I mean, she's not bad but she's nothing special, is she?
Fiona Well, I think she is. And my favourite male singer is David Gray. Personally, I think he is brilliant
Monica: Oh, come off it! There are lots of singers as good as him. His last album wasn't very good, was it?
Fiona: Well, I think he's a really good singer. And his lyrics are just fantastic.
Monica: I don't think so. If you want a real music hero, it has to be Bob Dylan. He really changed pop music and wrote brilliant songs.
Fiona: OK, but his voice is terrible!
Monica: Nonsense!
Fiona: And he's ancient. Who wants to listen to his music nowadays?
Monica: Well, I still like him.
Interviewer: And what about films? Actors and actresses.
Monica: For my generation, I think, er,Dustin Hoffman аnd Paul Newman were the best.
Fiona: Mm, you're dead right. They were brilliant.
Monica: Absolutely. Both of them have made some really films and Paul Newman is so good-looking, isn't he?
Fiona: Is he? He looks a bit like grandad to me!
Monica: Mm, you've got a point there.
Fiona: But there are other really good actors and actresses around today. For example, er, Nicole Kidman.
Monica: That's true. I've seen her in three or four films * she is really good. I really liked her in "The House". What a performance!
